Chronoanalysis: Study of Times and Movements
Many companies think they know their processes, but their inefficiency shows that they have a lot to improve, the study of times and movements helps us to discover the lead time of production of their products, or better, the cycle time of each process, both in the field activities and in the Packing House. Knowing the cycle time of your processes, in order to be able to predict with greater assertiveness how long each resource will take to finalize its activities and products is the basis of good planning.
The study of times and movements began with Frederick Taylor in 1890, the father of scientific administration who offered systematic and adequate instructions to workers, that is, training them would make it possible to make them produce more and with better quality.
Avilla Consulting through these concepts used in the industry, developed methodologies capable of measuring the time or cycle time, for all activities and processes performed in the field and Packing House, thus giving us greater assertiveness in planning and better use of each resource, standardizing processes and increasing company productivity and consequently reducing process costs and mapping activities and bringing more profits to the producer.
When we implement a continuous improvement project, we focus on the following points for chronoanalysis of the process:
1. Diagnostic: Identify and understand the demands and needs of the company and evaluate the current situation of the times and methods of the process as well as a general mapping of the entire operation.
2. Initial Definitions: Define the future situation that will be the objective of improving and gaining the work of chronoanalysis, times and methods.
3. Process Improvement Planning: Develop a Work Schedule with a focus on the implementation of the project.
4. Execution of Improvement Actions: Train the people in the organization involved in the improvements.
Implement the necessary improvement actions for the Chronoanalysis project, times and methods.
